Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino will miss today’s Premier League fixture against Southampton after damaging knee ligaments against Arsenal on Sunday. Manager Jurgen Klopp said yesterday he was hopeful the player could be fit to face Manchester City on Saturday, but “with all long-term injuries there is still a way to go”.
Klopp’s assistant Zeljko Buvac has said the winger could be out for at least three months, but the team’s upcoming two-match international break could provide him with some much-needed time to recover.
For Southampton, the defender Maya Yoshida is injured and out of the trip to Anfield. Three reserve players will be on the bench for the visit to Anfield of Liverpool to the Premier League.
