Mickey Guyton told the All Points West audience in Brooklyn, N.Y., this weekend that she knew she should send in a Grammy nom after she co-wrote the 11-times platinum-selling smash “You Make It Easy.”
“I recorded that song and basically, right after I did it, I got a phone call, and it was like, ‘This is how it’s going to go,’” Guyton told the crowd on Friday. “And I ended up submitting it. And then it kind of shook my whole life, because I was thinking, ‘Oh no, this is going to be shut down.’ And it’s like, ‘Yeah.’ I just knew.”
The following night, Guyton was nominated for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals for the album KMAG YOYO, a win which she described on Twitter as “a dream come true!”
“Waking up and hearing I was nominated for Best Country Solo Performance was just an absolute dream come true!” Guyton tweeted at 5:38 a.m. on Tuesday. “I’m lost for words. Thanks for all the love!”
“Thank you so much to my Grammy team, country music and my fans!” Guyton tweeted. “I’m truly humbled to be nominated for a Grammy.”
