Adele’s third album 25 has achieved a rare feat – becoming the fastest-selling album in both the US and the UK in August since records began.
25 sold a total of 585,000 copies in the US and UK in the first seven days of its release, according to Nielsen.
The 2015 release sold 632,000 copies in the first seven days.
This record was set two years ago by Taylor Swift’s 1989.
Other bestselling albums this year include Ed Sheeran’s Divide and Pink’s Beautiful Trauma.
Both albums have surpassed one million sales within two days of release.
The first official sales week of Swift’s new album Reputation was one of the most watched music videos on YouTube.
“I’m really proud to have a new album out and to be able to play it for my fans at my show, and I’m super excited to share it with everyone,” she told BBC News.
