Travel restrictions to be placed on South Africa, other countries

U.S. to Place Travel Restrictions on South Africa, Other Countries

The U.S. State Department is moving to place more travel restrictions on some foreigners entering the United States.

CNN’s Rosa Flores reports today that the government will place an additional four countries under a travel ban that President Donald Trump has long tried to impose. These travel restrictions will be placed on nationals from South Africa, Burundi, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan, all of which are accused of sponsoring terrorism or civil unrest. The restrictions will place no restrictions on those from the rest of the world.

The ban will be in place for 90 days from February 20, and will prevent certain foreigners from entering the United States. Within those 90 days, the State Department will consider whether to modify or drop the restrictions.
