has been a source of revenue and foreign investment for many years. It’s home to the Al-Saud World Golf Championship tournament and hosts the Builker Trophy. Jordan Spieth won the Tour Championship and Major Championship in two of three years before his success on the PGA Tour in 2014. Can you foresee it hosting a Major Championship in the near future?
It’s a proud day when your country can host a Major Championship, andto bring back the Saudi Major, for the first time, in 18 years. Despite many obstacles and the challenges the teams face on a daily basis, we will see major advancements and long lasting success. One of the companies has won titles in nine of the last 12 Majors, and is a great partner to bring future Major championships to the Kingdom. We’ve been working together to enhance the course designs of both the Aqim and Desert Golf Club in Saudi Arabia, and to make them more open and friendly with children. We plan to add a children’s area in each of the two facilities. Soysambuas, if you will, with ball pits, slides, fun amenities. The course staff has worked very hard to make it so the children are well taken care of and enjoy the golf.
Golfers across the globe today have more than five million players who like golf on the iPad, but few who play on the exact same Open Championship links course that a sultan built 1,000 years ago. How does golf fit into the modern society of today?
A great view of the Aqim Golf Club in. Driving range and greens feature the contours of the club’s original design.
First of all, I would say thank you to the Khaleej Times for allowing us to provide you with a glimpse of the many facets of this country.
We want to bring people from around the world and around the world to see the genuine Arabian hospitality and the man-made beauty of the historic grounds.
